  More and more it seems like Pick n Save is trying to compete with Sendik's on price (as in, they now charge more) but not on quality or service. I used to like Pick n Save for what it was - a non-specialty grocery store where I could by brand names I'm familiar with for a lower price. Then suddenly the prices of chicken, produce, dairy - they all seemed to go up, but the cashiers were still missing (at times there was 1, plus the 4 self check lanes) and the bagged oranges were still white and moldy before I could get them home. Why am I paying more and then checking myself out on top of it? And don't get me started on the loyalty card....why do I have to lug that around and still clip coupons? It kills me to see the "this is a coupon item" sign when I'm shopping. What is the PNS card for, if not to eliminate that? The frustration they cause me is no longer worth the savings they provide. They need to find their niche and own it. If they don't, Meijer will.

  I just bought some meat from the deli. It had no expiration date on the package. It smelled funny, and the sold on date was from the day before. The texture was iffy. I won't be eating it. When I called to speak to someone about it, and started to explain the details, they cut me off and connected me to the meat department. The worker there said, "sorry," I expect more people will be buying the same smelly meat with a questionable age to it. I probably will be the only one to complain. So buyer beware.
